Haiku Challenge– Poiku

Happier Poiku–

You look radiant–
Regretfully, I wrecked you.
My happy is you.

This is a “Poiku” or a Pop-Haiku. The challenge is to find a pop song and turn it into a haiku using your own words. It turns into a challenge once you are listening to your favorite songs searching yourself for the right words for your “Poiku.” It sounds easy.

I think it would also work with any genre of music. I’m not a music snob. A “Roiku” (Rock music), or “Foiku” (Folk), etc. could easily work for another challenge!

Happier- Ed Sheran

Happier lyrics

Walking down 29th and park
I saw you in another’s arms
Only a month we’ve been apart
You look happier

Saw you walk inside a bar
He said something to make you laugh
I saw that both your smiles were twice as wide as ours
Yeah, you look happier, you do

Ain’t nobody hurt you like I hurt you
But ain’t nobody love you like I do
Promise that I will not take it personal, baby
If you’re moving on with someone new

‘Cause baby you look happier, you do
My friends told me one day I’ll feel it too
And until then I’ll smile to hide the truth
But I know I was happier with you

Sat on the corner of the room
Everything’s reminding me of you
Nursing an empty bottle and telling myself you’re happier
Aren’t you?

Ain’t nobody hurt you like I hurt you
But ain’t nobody need you like I do
I know that there’s others that deserve you
But my darling, I am still in love with you

But I guess you look happier, you do
My friends told me one day I’d feel it too
And until then I’ll smile to hide the truth
But I know I was happier with you

Baby, you look happier, you do
I know one day you’d fall for someone new
But if breaks your heart like lovers do
Just know that I’ll be smiling here for you…

Recent Updates

Finally, I have my poetry where I like it!

When I first started my page, I had certain poems and haiku’s showcased each as “Pages.” But I wasn’t happy leaving them that way. No way to index them by date.

My site is primarily poetry, writing, and all that good stuff. I thought it would be nice if they were together. Easier to find what you are looking for if you came by my site.

I messed around Sunday experimenting, and reading WordPress support pages. I didn’t know quite what I was looking for, but I would know it when I found it.

Eventually all my searching led me to the menus option. I looked at it before, but never gave it a second thought. After monkeying around with it a few times, I had it how I wanted it.

I added a music link. Aside from poetry, I dabble with music, a lot.

Fun to play with. Maybe I will expand in the future.

Fixed my tags and categories. Updated them on the posts.

Hopefully, they don’t e-mail updated posts to subscribers each time. (Do they?)

I would feel bad. I swear I am not trying to annoy you on purpose.

I am trying to let things fly. It’s the perfectionist. I try to shut her up.

I do re-read my posts. Fix errors.

But then I see it. Something I worded wrong. It just sounds bad.

And it calls to me. Ahhhh!

“Leave it alone!”

But I can’t.

I am working on it. I promise. I am impulsive. That’s me.

Gradually, I will post the Haiku’s and Poetry previously showcased as their respective “Pages.”

Maybe a layout change.

Coming soon.
